Dr. Kevoyne Chambers has always been deeply committed to both learning and helping others succeed. As a medical student, he was actively involved in research, publishing several studies while balancing the demands of school. But beyond his academic achievements, he has made a real impact by supporting those around him. He has helped many students navigate the transition into the Jamaican healthcare system, ensuring they feel more prepared and confident. Recognizing the challenges of licensing exams, he not only started a study group for junior doctors but also wrote a CAMCE revision guide that has helped several people pass and go on to become licensed doctors. Now, as a junior doctor himself, he remains dedicated to mentorship and medical education while working toward his goal of becoming an internal medicine specialist.
“I strongly suggest starting to study for licensing exams prior to clerkships as this provided a very good base of knowledge from which to build upon during the actual clerkship experience. Whilst balancing the time was difficult I found that a lot of the information was easily interchangeable and it didn’t feel as pressuring as one might think. For example seeing a patient with a pulmonary embolism and being questioned on rounds, learning the full disease process and management for same easily translated when I’d come home and do practice questions. When you think about it in this way it takes a lot of the pressure off. Dedication and having a goal is also very important, always remember your why and use that to help motivate you on days that you may find it difficult to keep going.”
Hey everyone, I’m Ry! I started This Notion as a way to bring students together, share knowledge, and make this journey a little easier for all of us. Transitioning to a different clinical landscape can be tough, but having the right support and resources can make all the difference. I’ve always believed in collaboration over competition, and Bridge The Gap is just one way to create a space where we can learn, grow, and help each other succeed.
